OMG! It's Joan of Arc!
Okay, so Rich and I went to church today, like good little Catholics, and Fr. Damien was processing down the aisle with the Deacon and the Cross bearer, and four altar servers. He stepped behind the altar with the Deacon and two of the altar servers, followed him. Then, before he could begin the Mass with the sign of the Cross, A huge plume of fire suddenly appeared on one of the girl altar servers. she of course was carrying a candle and her long hair swung into the flame, and whoosh! her hair went up in fire! The church was eerily silent as four men rushed to get her to the floor and put out the fire. Rich and I were in the fourth row and saw everything too clearly as she left the church followed by mom and dad, with her hair gone and all, we could see was charcoal skin on the side of her head. Luckily, her face was good and her altar clothes were not ignited. Fr. started Mass and the smell of burnt hair and skin lingered throughout the Mass. So, wow! talk about getting our attention! Otherwise, the day was uneventful, but I think that about covered it anyway. How is everyone else doing? Jeanne said the docs are 75% sure Lisa does not have Cancer. Our prayers are a powerful thing! Wow. And here I thought our Mass would be eventful. Jessica and the babes came down to our house for the day for a change of pace. We went to 10:00 Mass and they were all soooooo good. I don't know if the people around us got anything out of Mass as all the attention was on our pew. I think we turned a few heads when we walked in with all those car seats and Jenni carrying Carter. Mom, Paula and Tom, Brian and Kenzie, and a few of our friends came over for the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the altar server didn't suffer too much from those burns. How old was she?
Nothing much else around here except college preparations and Jenni has a game already a week from tomorrow.
Take care - Love Julie and all
She looked to be around ten years old. We kept mentioning it yesterday as it was such a dramatic event. Today just a day. Finishing up our bible study tonight, Catholics Go Green! about us protecting and being stewards of the Earth God gave us. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that stuff like that doesn't happen more often. I've seen our alter servers holding the candlelighters and dink around with it next to the altar cloth.
ReplyDeleteHope that girl is all right. What horrible experience. Guess you never know what's going to happen at church.
